Liability:
Researching the skateboard, inline skate, and BMX industries, we found that numerous communities had liability concerns and lots of them had destructed and dismantled skate parks in the late 1980’s. The problem is the skaters and bikers didn’t go away or stop their activities, so again communities are forced to deal with the issue. We also found that this dangerous sport did not have the legal claims that softball diamonds or basketball courts have. According to the National Sporting Goods Association, inline skating’s safety record is twice as good as that of most others sports, including baseball and basketball. There is a badge of honor in these athletes, after witnessing the skate parks’ demise in the 1980’s the legal claims have been minimal throughout the country.

Some general standards to be aware of are the different ramp classifications with respect to height of ramps. Tier one indicates any ramp three feet and under in height, tier two is three to six feet, and six feet and above is tier three. Municipalities in some states, including Minnesota, do not require additional insurance for playgrounds if ramps are in tier one category. Also, skate parks usually don’t require supervision of their parks if ramps are kept in the tier one category. One-Up-Ramps made a decision to keep all products within the tier one classification because the majority of the users find these sufficient and municipalities aren’t as apprehensive about liability issues.

Warranty:
We limit our warranty to manufacturing faults with the product. If the ramp is missused or damaged by incorrect usage or any other missadventure, we do not cover replacement.

Disclaimer:
Using ramps to become airborne, is inherently dangerous. Doing so is an elective choice of the participent. Our ramps will help eliminate some of the dangers of this activity by giving a sturdy launch/landing facility with no sharp edges or corners and with a smooth surface free of splinters and other irregularities that could cause injury. However, the use of our ramps is entirely at the discretion of the user who must accept all responsibility for any missadventure thus incurred. We accept no responsibility for any injury sustained whilst using our equipment.

We recommend that while using these ramps and all other equipment such as skate boards, bikes, roller blades etc., the athletes wear protective gear such as helmets, knee and elbow pads, proper protective gloves and all other gear to guard against injury. In addition, all use of our ramps should be done with the supervision of an adult in a location free from pedistrian, auto, bicycle or other traffic. It would also be best to place soft mats on either side of the ramps in case of errors. Ramps should be either fastened down or the anti skid attachments should be in place.
